WoodyBoater, Katz Marine and many other contributers finally finished “Thayer IV” – the original movie boat from “On Golden Pond.”
There have been a lot of imposters over the years, but tons of research and conversations with people close to the movie set all contributed to efforts to find the genuine article. Thayer IV will be on display at the upcoming 2012 SunnyLand ACBS Antique Boat Show in Tavares, FL. To read more about the story goto WoodyBoater. Enjoy!

Classic Ways to Heat a Room
I was at a good friend’s house this weekend, and the conversation came up that he wanted to turn a 3 season porch into a man room in the late fall and winter months. We both agreed that a small woodburning stove would be functional, fashionable and fun. Here are 3 smaller wood burning stoves that fit the bill.
Morsø 1410 Radiant
Are we surprised that I picked a Danish company for the first stove? Great styling and great quality.

Jøtul F 602 CB
This stove will keep you warmer than a Norwegian Viking in your bed….
Navigator’s Model # NSW3. “HALIBUT”
This is an awesome stove because of it’s nautical roots. Whether you have a fire going or not, it will be a great conversation piece. Their website has other great nautical stoves as well.
What is that and where can I get it?
Many times I’ve caught myself thinking “what is that and where can I get it?” As a child I was taught that lust would send me to the fiery depths; this car would be worth it. Despite it’s 4 cylinder boxer engine, the 1969 Porsche 912 featured in Tony Scott’s 2001 “Spy Game” is a wonderfully sexy car. Fitting that Robert Redford and Brad Pitt are the stars. If you would like to find out more about these cars visit the Porsche 912 Registry.

Antique Inspiration
I wanted to share a project I did for one of my best friends and his wife. They love all things old. When he said he wanted a “time machine” for his wedding present, I did just that.. well sort of. The project took 4 weeks and uses mahogany, burled walnut, curved glass and a German movement. The idea was to go for an antique radio look and incorporate it into a grandfather clock. Now I want one for myself!

Vintage Dodge Power Wagon – If Don Draper was a Farmer…
The Don Draper of trucks? Ok, without the adultery… or sociopathic tendencies. Point is, the Dodge Power Wagon is one of the greatest trucks ever devised. With some models more than 60 years old, this truck still seethes with testosterone and classical styling.
These trucks can be had on the used/vintage market in running condition for anywhere between $15k all the way to $50k in show condition.
Manufactured between 1941 and 1971, this work of art spanned several wars and has provided utility and style for years. (Pictures link to full size image for wallpaper)

Incredible Wooden Toy Train
Dariel, a woodworker out of Panama, creates one-off wooden toys as a hobby. Here he has created a model of the Union Pacific 4884 “Big Boy” Locomotive. No nails or metal are in these toys, they are all wood. The model measures over 4′ long!
See the original Union Pacific 4884 “Big Boy” at the end of this post.

5 Things From the 40′s That Would Make 2012 Better…
2012 will be great, and except for the little hiccup in the middle of the ’40′s, that was a pretty good time too. Here are my recommendations of what I wish we could bring back from that infamous time period….
1) Curvy Women
In todays world of sticks and twigs, these full figured woman would be a welcome change!
2) P51 Mustangs
Arguably one of the sexiest birds of all time, this plane has more curves than Rita Hayworth, (I’ll get to her next) but packed the punch of a rhinoceros.
3) Rita Hayworth
I won’t even bother describing her (yes the picture link takes you to the full size image).
4) VE-Day
Let’s bring ‘em home, need I say more? Oh yeah and let’s have a ridiculous parade while we’re at it!
5) Pinups
…Again, over here gentlemen. Another item of which little description is needed.

Vintage Boat of the Day – 1948 25′ Chris Craft Sedan
For those of you unfamiliar with vintage boats, this one is a true classic. Coupling the automotive styling of the day with world class craftsmanship make this seafarer something to lust after. With seating for 7-8 people this boat is a bargain at just $85,000. Seem like a lot?? Remember you can always charge your friends for booze and gas!

Vintage Store Highlight – LEO Design, NYC
I was recently in the west village and happened upon LEO Design. The minute I walked in I felt like I should have been sipping brandy while sitting next to my fireplace (sorry, no Heffner robe in this daydream, we have standards at TheVintageDane). It’s a small shop about 600 sq. ft. They feature high quality interior accents from all over the world with a Craftsman/Mission Style/Art Deco flare. This place is a MUST visit for anybody interested in this style (which is basically EVERY guy I know). The shop has tons of inventory and plenty to look through.
